Washington Men’s Soccer hosts Stanford on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Husky Soccer Stadium for the second-annual DP Night. With October being Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) Awareness Month, the Washington men's soccer team has partnered with the DP Foundation to raise awareness for sudden cardiac awareness.
In December of 2015, Washington soccer alum Daniel Phelps passed away at the age of 27 after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest in his sleep. Daniel played forward and wore #19 at UW. He was a natural leader and motivator. His work ethic, charisma, humor and general outlook on life made him the kind of person everyone wanted to be around. He was known as the social connector by his closest friends, and his memory lives on through the DP Foundation.
Get Involved
The match will feature numerous promotions centered around raising awareness for sudden cardiac arrest. Fans will be able to learn how to administer CPR and use an AED prior to kickoff, at halftime, and after the game. There will also be special giveaways and more information on how to recognize a sudden cardiac arrest and the steps you should take to increase the odds of survival.
Pregame Autographs
Be there early! Jordan Morris and Husky alum Cristian Roldan, two stars of the Seattle Sounders, will be in attendance to show their support and sign autographs before the game.
DP Foundation
The DP Foundation is focused on saving and supporting young lives.
They save young lives by donating money to the Nick of Time Foundation to help them screen young hearts at local schools and teach kids CPR and how to use an AED. Additionally, they place AEDs throughout the community and run an annual charity golf tournament called the DP Open to raise funds and build awareness for sudden cardiac arrest.
The DP Foundation supports young lives through their Soccership program where they donate money to six local soccer clubs to help make soccer more affordable for local families. The funds are used for things like equipment, registration fees, and travel fees.
