Spring Soccer
(Rec Developmental Games)
We are excited to welcome back all SYSA families participating this spring and are looking forward to seeing those players back out on the pitch, starting on April 7th.
SYSA Spring Soccer was started by the late SYSA President and Queen Anne Club member Neil Callahan in 2002. His idea was to give kids a chance to play some fun soccer in the off season and improve their skills by getting more touches on the ball.
As the league continues to grow and more players participate, it's important to remember the objectives and spirit of Spring Soccer.
Neil's vision for Spring Soccer was to let the kids play and enjoy the game in a fun, safe, creative way. Spring Soccer is not about standings or scores.
“A league focused on kids playing soccer in a safe, comfortable environment, without the pressure of winning and losing, allowing them to get more touches on the ball and find joy and creativity in the game.”

Individual Registration
Individual player registration will open on Jan 20th for the Spring 2024 season.
Players who participated on a team in the Fall 2023 season and will continue with that team this spring, do not need to register. Your coach will simply include you on the roster.
Players U9 & Older Without a Spring Team:
Players who participated in the Fall 2023 season on an SYSA team but DO NOT have a team for spring can register as Individual players. Contact registrar Anne Bare (anne.bare@sysa.org) for a code to waive the registration fee. We will work to find spots for as many players as possible but placement is not guaranteed and may not be with your neighborhood club; Families should reach out in their community, and check with classmates, friends, or neighbors who may be on a team with room for a new player or two.
Players new to SYSA (those who DID NOT play in the Fall 2023 season) are invited to register as individual players. Families should reach out in their community, and check with classmates, friends, or neighbors who may be on a team with room for a new player or two. We will work to find spots for as many players as possible but placement is not guaranteed and Spring team assignments may not be in your neighborhood club.
For a complete understanding of the Spring soccer registration process, we encourage all families to read our Player/Parent FAQ.
Players U6-U8 Without a Spring Team:
Spring participation on a team in these age groups is by coach invitation only. If you have been invited to join an existing team, please contact the registrar assigned to your club for assistance. SYSA Registrars with their club assignments are listed at the bottom of this page.
For U6-U8 players without a team to play on, SYSA offers the Spring Skills Academy. This 8-week program is open to new or returning players in these age groups, without a team. Check the Programs tab at the top of the page for more information about the Skills Academy.
For a complete understanding of the Spring soccer registration process, we encourage all families to read our Player/Parent FAQ.
